Circus Show - May 19th and 20th

The DDC, DIS Dad’s Club, surprised the the DIS Mom’s during morning dropoff Friday morning. Volunteer Dad’s presented a rose to all the Mom’s, Grandmother’s for Mother’s day. Special Thanks to John Wolfe, Craig Lemmon; Bill Sheahan and Jean-Marc Grebonval

The U.S. Women’s National Team was conducting a training camp in Frisco, Texas in preparation for their opponent Canada Saturday May 12th. The U.S. team are taking part in a series preparation games for the 2007 FIFA World Cup in China. The Dallas International School’s soccer teams had the opportunity to watch and interact with the team this week during their training camp. The DIS Tigers visited with the stars of U.S. soccer the likes of Heather Mitts, Natasha Kai and Abby Wambach. The U.S. players spend additional time afterwards signing autographs for their new fans.

Dad’s ClubThe next DIS Dads Club get together is Wednesday, May 16, 2007 starting around 6:30pm at Campisi’s Restaurant. Come out and enjoy some pizza and conversation with other DIS Dads.

The PTA was a popularity contest when Joy Weinstein’s youngest child started first grade two decades ago.
Women campaigned for coveted titles such as room mom, membership chairman and president.
“People would fight one another,” said Mrs. Weinstein, a Richardson mother of five. “It was like, ‘Yeah, we have 15 people who want that position.’ ”
Today’s Parent Teacher Association faces flagging numbers and a different kind of fight: Sell PTA to a new generation of parents who have little time or interest in a volunteer group known for cliques and cookie sales.
PTA membership has fallen 15 percent – almost 115,000 people – over the past decade in Texas, which traditionally has set trends for parent-teacher associations nationwide….more

But the people who reside in the fancy houses come only in the summer. The families who live here all year long tend to be ordinary, middle-class people, many of them in service industries. CP parents are reminded to drop off a snack on Tuesday, May 29th for the teacher meeting that afternoon. A notice will be in the backpacks regarding this on Friday.
