The Maltipoo (or Malti Poo, Maltepoo, or Multipoo) is a cross between a Maltese and a Poodle. They are usually a bright, happy dog, always ready to chase a ball!

Personality

On a range of 1-10, 10 being the most active (like a Jack Russel Terrier!), they will generally fall in the range of 5-7. They are generally great with kids.

Size and Colors

Sizes vary with the size of the parents, but commonly the maltipoo typically matures between 5 and 9 pounds. These dogs are non-shedding, and can be found in a variety of colors, though light colors are more common.

Bollywood-style at a recent Clay Pit party

NIGHT LIFE: Find your flow in India’s beat
08:55 AM CDT on Wednesday, March 21, 2007

By LESLEY TÉLLEZ / Quick

Jamming out to Bollywood music is a Dallas night-life experience that shouldn’t be missed. People gleefully shout the lyrics. Dance moves crop up that aren’t usually seen at, say, megaclub Purgatory. (Anyone up for squatting across the floor like a frog?) Bollywood, danceable songs from epic Indian musicals, just inspires fun. So does bhangra, an ancient Punjabi style of music that’s been modernized with disco and hip-hop beats.

Two events that exclusively play Bollywood and bhangra are held in Dallas each month, and anyone’s welcome.

Here’s more on the local Bollywood party scene….more

DIS Weekly “Passage to India” Gala-gram 3-23-07

Filed under: PTO Announcements — pto-diso @ 8.38 am

From the Gala Chairs
“Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well-lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day.” - Indian proverb

After.
Months of thinking, planning, soliciting & contracting;
Weeks of coordinating, organizing & executing;
Days of selling, meeting, discussions, emails, and calls;
Hours of marketing, publicizing, toiling & exerting;
And Minutes of doubts & worries (we are only human!),
the Gala is almost here.
Time has flown by. And we have, after all the work, paused to worry about making this event a success.
For the Gala is, after all, not only a party. It is also the single most important event of the year for fund-raising for DIS. And we all know that the funds raised are critical to continuing improving our facilities, attaining the International Baccalaureate accreditation, introducing new language tracks, and envisioning an expanded campus to accommodate our growing numbers of students, faculty and families.
So the months, weeks, days, hours and yes, minutes, of all our collective efforts are worth it. Because we’re doing our part to make the vision we have for DIS into a reality.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for all that you have done and will continue to do. DIS is a better place because of you.
With deep appreciation,
- Beth Zucker, Marilyn Naylor & Liza Tatum

Worried about decline in rigor, auditors want proof courses are tough
10:51 PM CDT on Monday, March 26, 2007The Washington Post

WASHINGTON – The College Board, publisher of college-preparatory exams, is auditing every Advanced Placement course in the nation, asking teachers of an estimated 130,000 AP courses to furnish written proof by June 1 that the courses they teach are worthy of the brand.

An explosion in AP study – participation in the program has nearly doubled this decade – has bred worry, particularly among college leaders, of a decline in the rigor for which the courses are known. Once the exclusive province of elite students at select high schools, AP study or its equivalent is now more or less expected of any student who aspires to attend even a marginally selective college….more

We are pleased to partner with Haynsworth Photography for this year’s Gala photos. Auction Instructions
We will be using AuctionStar once again to manage the auctions. When you check in at the Gala you will be asked to provide your credit card. It is “swiped” then and held on record, to process any purchases that you might make (either from direct buys, like a raffle ticket, or from being the winning bidder on an item). Then, when you check out we will provide you with a receipt in the amount of your purchases.
During check-in, you will receive a packet of stickers that you’re your name and unique bar code identifier. To place a bid on an item in the silent auction, you will place one of your stickers in the space provided for the next incremental bid amount above the current bid price.
You may bid as often as you like. The highest bid at the end of the silent auction will be the winner. You can find out if you won by going through check out, which will begin at 10:15pm.

DIS AWARDS THE PRIX D’AMITIE TO JEAN-PIERRE VILLAIN
Each year the DIS Gala Committee selects a recipient of the DIS Prix D’Amitie (Friendship Award). This year we honor Jean-Pierre Villain, CEO of Mission Laique Francaise and long time friend of DIS. In his capacity as Chairman of the Board of Dallas International School, Monsieur Villain has been a driving force for moving ahead with the International Baccalaureate accreditation process and for developing plans for the future facilities for DIS. He is a tireless advocate of our school, and will be joining us for the Gala on Saturday night. Please give him a warm welcome during the Award Ceremony!
