De La Soul claimed it was the magic number. The late John Ritter found it to be good company. And of course there’s the Holy Trinity. But this summer, as movie studios embark on their annual quest to make their tent poles stand up, the number three will mean piles and piles (and piles) of cash. Never have so many Hollywood franchises scurried behind the line of risk aversion and hoisted up a trey. The sports world long ago introduced “threepeat” to the national vocabulary. Now it’s time for the threequel.

The MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival hosts tens of thousands people annually during the four-day visual arts, entertainment and culture event. MAIN ST. showcases a nationally recognized fine art and fine craft juried art fair, savory food, live concerts, performance artists and street performers on the streets of downtown Fort Worth. The net result: fun!

Each spring, Guide compiles a roundup of day camps and classes to help parents plan a super summer for their kids. We also throw in some events leading up to the hot months, along with those running until it’s time for the youngsters to head back to the classroom. Some summer programs may have different schedules around the Memorial Day or July Fourth holidays. Please call ahead to check how individual camps and classes handle holiday scheduling. Some programs may offer discounts based on early registration, financial need or other factors.Of course, parents should research summer programs to find the best fit for their children. No matter what type of camp you choose, do your homework to make sure it’s a safe and well-run place. For camp advice, try the American Camp Association’s site for parents at www.campparents.org.Parents’ Guide does not include overnight camps, vacation Bible schools or camps held in commercial homes or day-care centers. We also exclude programs that are not open to the public, and late or incomplete submissions are disqualified. For more summer events and activities, read Guide’s Kid Beat section each Friday.

With the recent passing of titanic local art collector Raymond Nasher, the mood at his namesake museum can’t be all that jovial. However, the Nasher Sculpture Center can’t exactly spool down to mourn. Besides, Mr. Nasher wanted the public to frolic around his world-class art holdings. In that spirit, you can treat the museum’s second anniversary commemoration of its Saturday Nights in the City program series as an opportunity to honor the man who made the institution possible. At Saturday’s soiree, you’ll have the tools for it: food from Wolfgang Puck Catering, cocktails galore and the series’ first-ever outdoor dance party presided over by one of the city’s top cover bands, Emerald City. It’ll also be the last chance to see the museum’s current exhibit, Matisse: Painter as Sculptor, without paying an extra 10 bucks; a curator-guided tour of the Nasher’s half of the show (the Dallas Museum of Art portion is not included) is planned for 7 p.m.
